Dr Bartosz Zambroń is the laureate of the Włodzimierz Kołos scientific award of the 3rd Department of the Polish Academy of Sciences in the field of chemistry for the achievement “Remote asymmetric induction in the reactions of chelated organoids generated from β-lactams with aldehydes”. The scientific interests of Dr Bartosz Zambroń include research in the area of the use of readily available non-racemic azetidin-2-ones (β-lactams) in the stereocontrolled synthesis of useful derivatives not containing the β-lactam fragment (the so-called β-Lactam Synthon Method). In addition, the laureate conducts research on the development of stereoselective methods of obtaining difficult to synthesize, highly functionalized homoallylic allenes, alcohols and amines by means of new reactions of readily available chiral β-lactams with a wide range of electrophilic partners such as aldehydes, ketones, imines and their synthetic equivalents. The derivatives thus obtained, through selected combinations of multiple functional groups present in their structure, are then selectively converted into a series of nitrogen- or oxygen-containing heterocycles. Congratulations and we wish you all the success in your research!
