International Scientific Cooperation of Dr. Marcin Górecki with Prof. K. Kumar Damodaran (University of Reykjavik, Iceland) and Prof. G. Pescitelli (University of Pisa, Italy) resulted in an article in Angewandte Chemie International Edition.
In the last issue of this journal, an article entitled „Enantioselective Gel Phase Synthesis of Metal-Organic Materials” was published. The Authors reported the asymmetric synthesis of homochiral metal-organic materials (MOMs) in chiral gels from achiral components. They proved that the enantioselectivity of MOMs depends on the chirality of the gel. In contrast, the synthesis performed in the solution-phase and achiral gels resulted in a conglomerate.
In conducted research the solid-phase electron circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy played a key role, thanks to which it was possible to demonstrate the existence of this new phenomenon.
